Work-life Crises: Does your life need a coach? Studies show we are working longer hours than ever before and spending at least a week a year stuck in traffic.  Many people are even maintaining a 24/7 connection with work through a blackberry. With all this in mind, it seems reasonable that many find it hard to create a work-life balance.    Kalani McClain, Personal Development coach and president of Sinergia Life Coaching spends her days helping others create a balance between their home and work life and more importantly, being happy with the results. Understanding that this lack of balance is a wide-spread problem in daily American life she offers five solutions to creating that work-life balance we so desire: Create goals and make a work-life balance your priority.  “Take time to understand you, your values, goals, and dreams in life.” Kalani suggests,   “Having a clear understanding of what is important to you will allow you to be in the right place to have this balance present in your life.”  Being committed to creating the lifestyle that has balance. Americans have a huge problems saying No and creating boundaries with work/life. Stay committed to what is important and communicate your goals to your boss, spouse, family and friends.  Organize, Organize, Organize : Planning or mapping out your days, weeks, months and even years gives you a sense of direction and focus. “When you have a life you know you’re in control of, it creates a sense of self-empowerment.” Kalani says. Live in the Present: Practice living in the NOW – learning to let go and live in the moment is a great way to be balanced. How do you do this? “When you first wake up, embrace the day by smiling in bed and allow yourself to get excited about getting up. As you head over to the bathroom and brush your teeth, enjoy that moment, look at yourself in the mirror and smile.  Go about your day appreciating every moment that passes by and notice the little gifts that the day brings you. Whether it’s a beautiful sun rise or sun set, a bird passing by your car as your driving, being able to live in the NOW supports the balance in your life.” Kalani adds. Get a Life Coach: Have a life coach assist you in seeking clarity, establish goals, create new habits, organize your life and live in the present moment. A life coach can help you approach the balance between your professional and personal life.

Top 10 Self Love Techniques

Filed under: Self - Improvement — Kalani @ 10:06 am

If you allow yourself to take time for “you”, this simple action will create more energy to give to others. Use these 10 self-love techniques that I use with clients. See how you can increase your internal value and generosity as they did.

  1. Look in the mirror each morning and say to yourself, “I love me.” This helps create positive energy to start your day. The single biggest factor that determines if people love you is the strength of your self-love.
  2. Keep a ‘my list of favorite things/activities.’ For example, it could be the sunrise or sunset. For outdoor lovers, choose a plant or flower. Focus on living things rather than material things kike money, jewelry, or cars. List the activities you love like hiking, yoga, singing, or dancing. When you focus on what makes you happy, the result is an increased internal happiness.
  3. Be generous and giving. Having an attitude of gratitude works! Open a door for someone, pick up some litter, and lend a helping hand however you can. I like to pay for the coffee of a stranger behind me at Starbucks. Your actions will inspire you and others. Rent “Pay it Forward” for more ideas.
  4. Crate a healthy external environment. Associate with people and things that work with your positive energy. When something or someone drains your positivity, use numbers 1, 2, 3, or 6 in this list to detox and rejuvenate.
  5. Smile, smile, smile, and smile some more! Greet family, friends, and strangers with a smile. It’s always nice when someone smiles at you. Be the person who gives that gift to others regularly. Your smile radiates upbeat vibes that you share with others and yourself.
  6. Write down 10 attributes you love about yourself. Focus on those qualities and live them to your fullest potential. Take note of how your gifts impact and contribute to others and yourself. As you focus on your true essence, watch your self-value kick into high gear.
  7. Keep an image you’re proud of. Dress to impress yourself. Let your clothes and hair reflect your inner beauty. Not only will you look great, you’ll also create an inward value.
  8. Exercise regularly. Whether it’s a 10-minute walk around your neighborhood a couple of times per week, yoga, or marathon training, you honor your body when you take time to workout. Exercise experts recommend at least 20 minutes per day, 3 times per week. If exercising brings you happiness, increase the amount of time you spend. It will increase your self-value.
  9. Eat healthy foods that are good for you. This fuels you to think and act in positive ways. If you love sweets, enjoy them in moderation. Your inner self is your true guide on how much to indulge. People know their limit. Learn to listen to your body. Add color to your foods when possible. Enjoy attractive and healthy food even if you’re cooking at home.
  10. Create self-time. Being alone isn’t loneliness. If you can allow more time to catch a flick or read a book, do it! Recap on your values. Do a self-check by reviewing and revising your goals and your lists in number 2 and 6 of these steps. Honor who you are, because you are the only AWESOME you!

Creating positive and self-loving thoughts is the starting point. Being around people, places, and things you love allows you the ability to exercise the unique beauty you bring to the world.
